My first of two weddings this year was for an Illinois Graphic Design Professor I had, Brian Wiley. It was held in the hometown of the bride, Leah Niezwaag (awesome surname!) in Charles City, Iowa. In my short experience with weddings, this was the first where I was previously acquainted and comfortable with the groom (or bride), and on top of this, the Niezwaag family was very warm and welcoming. Being able to photograph the rehearsal dinner the night before, I was able to acquaint myself with friends and family, and I’d like to think they became more comfortable with me behind a camera, documenting the weekend. These details made this my favorite wedding weekend I had photographed. A downfall of the big day was weather that didn’t want to cooperate and clear up until later on in the day.
